Fruit-full Schools

Fruit-full

Two thirds of orchards have been lost from England since the 1950s. Recognising this massive loss, Learning Through Landscapes, Common Grounds, Garden Organic and the RHS developed the Fruit-Full Schools programme.  Funding to run the programme was successfully secured through the National Lottery, Local Food Grant.

Fruit-Full Schools aims to engage secondary schools nationally to research heritage apple varieties and graft stock to develop orchards in their own schools and their linked primary schools.  Community volunteers help the children care for their trees. The programme will enable thousands of children to participate in cultural festivals, such as Wassailing or Apple Day, and other creative celebrations.

All schools interested in sharing good practice and swapping top apple tips, will be able to become members of a national apple-club.

OASES is the delivery agent for FRUIT-FULL SCHOOLS in North-East England. A flyer describing the project can be viewed HERE.

Note: Recruitment for this project is now CLOSED.
