The School Grounds Project aims to raise achievement by involving the whole school community in improving their school grounds for education and play.

Do you:

  • Want to improve your school grounds but don’t know where to start?
  • Have lots of ideas but are not sure how to create a Vision Plan?
  • Need additional skills and resources to deliver learning outside the classroom?
  • Seek to engage educational expertise in your project?
  • Require advice or support in helping to secure external funding?

Working with schools and settings in County Durham and the North East region since 1996, the School Grounds Project puts participation, education and child development at the heart of grounds development, by providing Consultancy, Training, Interactive Activity and Design services.

Our complete grounds service is based on a proven standard package of consultation, site and resource assessment. However we do appreciate that every school is unique, with a variety of needs and skills, as such bespoke packages can be arranged allowing you to tap into just the skills you need.  The School Grounds Project’s experienced consultation specialist’s work with your whole school community and skilled designers to create a vision plan for the future. We aim to make all school grounds designs as sustainable, easily achievable and value for money as possible.

So if you would like to improve the design of your grounds which can lead to:

  • Increased ownership and sense of responsibility.
  • Improved appearance and popularity of the school / setting.
  • A reduction in accidents, bullying and vandalism.
  • Enhanced opportunities for play & social interaction.
  • Raised achievement through additional teaching resources.
  • Greater personal development and pupil well-being.

Contact the School Grounds Project at OASES for further information and an informal chat about your project.

School grounds development projects can be funded through school budgets, Service Level Agreements (or EDS hours for County Durham Schools).
